Boys HS basketball tournament: dust and just, we are in a golden age

The boys western class A is proceeding on serve, as the top seeds have all advanced to the semi-finals, although Cheverus almost pulled out an upset against Falmouth.

Cheverus guard Manny Ismail was a mischievous squirrel among oaks and 6’5″ Zordan Holman held down the inside against Falmouth’s massive front line for three quarters but when Freshman sharpshooter Austin Boudreau got into foul trouble (and eventually fouled out) Falmouth pulled away for the win.

In the first game, Sanford played well but Dustin Cole and Bonny Eagle are just too good. Cole and company will give Falmouth fits and should advance to the finals against Justin Zukowski and the rest of the Portland Bulldogs.

Dustin is the best player in the state, Justin the leader of the best team, and Austin is possibly the best freshman; which leads one to believe that we are in a golden age of  _ustins. Apart from the big three, there are four other _ustins in the tournament which if you put them all together they’d probably be a pretty good team.

But now Cheverus’ _ustin is out and I’m looking ahead to Dust vs. Just in the western final. Semis continue on Wednesday.
